How to book Appointments with an AI agent

Give your agent calendar access, then ask it to find open slots and draft invites for you to confirm. Claude Code uses the Google Calendar connector from claude.ai. Codex and Cursor can use the Google Workspace CLI. Grok Bot connects to Google Calendar and asks before sending invites.

Claude Code

  1. Connect Google Calendar at claude.ai/customize/connectors
  2. Log in to Claude Code with that claude.ai account and run /mcp to check
  3. Ask: "Find three 30 minute slots next week between 10 and 4 Eastern. Do not create anything yet."

Codex

  1. npm install -g @googleworkspace/cli, then gws auth setup and gws auth login -s calendar
  2. Run gws calendar --help to see the commands, and copy the matching gws skill into .agents/skills/
  3. Ask Codex to list free time and draft the event for you to approve

Cursor

  1. Set up gws the same way
  2. Copy the gws calendar skill into .cursor/skills/
  3. Ask the agent to propose times, then create the event once you confirm

Grok Bot

  1. Connect Google Calendar to Grok Bot
  2. Ask: "When am I free Thursday? Hold 2pm for a call with Sam."
  3. It confirms before sending invites to other people

Gotchas

  • Always say the time zone. Agents get it wrong when you do not.
  • Creating an event with guests emails them. Draft first.
  • For customer bookings, a booking page or an AI receptionist is easier than letting an agent edit your calendar.
