What OpenFilm does

OpenFilm turns Claude Code, Codex or another coding agent into a video maker. The agent writes the film as web pages in a film.html file (each shot draws itself with one frame(t) function, using anything a browser can draw), and Studio, a local editor in your browser, shows it as it builds. You can then move, restyle and retime anything by hand or by asking, and export MP4, GIF, subtitles, stills or a timeline for Final Cut Pro, Premiere Pro and DaVinci Resolve. Making and rendering films needs no account. Generated voice, music, images and video use services you connect with your own keys.

Who it is for

Creators who need explainer videos, motion graphics or launch videos and already use a coding agent.

How to use OpenFilm with Claude Code, Codex or Cursor

  1. Install Node 22.2+ and ffmpeg (the first run also downloads a headless Chromium, about 100 MB).
  2. Add the skill: npx skills add openfilm/openfilm
  3. Ask your agent for a film, for example: "Make a 20-second launch video for my CLI, with music."
  4. Edit in Studio, then render the MP4 with openfilm render. A desktop app for macOS and Windows bundles ffmpeg and the browser.

Tip: If your agent does not support skills, tell it to run npx -y openfilm@latest and follow the manual it prints.
