AI Loadout Daily, Nov 1, 2026: A plugin that trims coding agent bills, and a fix for apps that look AI made
Published
Microsoft Research released a plugin that makes coding agents waste fewer tokens in repos you use a lot. DeepSeek put out an agent that answers GitHub issues with pull requests. Plus a skill that cleans up AI-looking UI, a cheaper web search API for agents, Canva's new editing model and ChatGPT account switching on mobile.
- Microsoft Research put out TokenEconomizer, a free plugin (Apache 2.0) for Claude Code, Codex, Copilot CLI and Pi. It remembers things about your repo that sessions keep relearning, stops loading tools you never use, and nudges the agent when it's stuck in a loop. The authors measured 18% to 31% lower cost on SWE-Bench. Their numbers, and it's only tested up to Claude Code 2.1.310 and Codex 0.164.0. See the setup
- DeepSeek open sourced dsh-superagent (Oct 31, MIT). Point it at one GitHub repo, ask for something in an issue thread, and it does the work in its own session and replies, often with a pull request. DeepSeek is clear this is a research prototype, not a product, and it runs on DeepSeek Harness. Fun to try on a side repo, not your main one. See the setup
- unslop is a new skill for Claude Code and Codex that fixes apps that look AI made. It lists the tells first (purple gradients, glows, emoji labels, messy spacing), suggests a direction based on your product, then cleans up one pass at a time. Type /unslop this dashboard. Free under CC BY 4.0, and it asks before any paid image generation. See the setup
- Expand launched Expand Search (Oct 30), a web search API for agents at $1.50 per 1,000 searches. Failed or empty searches are free and the free plan covers roughly 6,600 searches. It comes as an API, TypeScript SDK, CLI and MCP server. Expand says it matches Exa and Brave for less money, but those are its own benchmarks. See the setup
- Canva Brush (Oct 29) is Canva's own model for editing designs you already have. Ask it to change every header in a deck or turn a slide into an Instagram post. It's live for Canva Pro in Canva AI, pick Brush in the model dropdown. Canva says edits are up to 69% faster. No Brand Kit support yet. See the setup
- The ChatGPT iOS and Android apps are getting account switching (rolling out since Oct 30). Stay signed in to two accounts and flip between them in Settings > Switch account. Chats, memory and subscriptions stay separate, which helps if work pays for one plan and you pay for another. See the setup

Building an app without code: start in Lovable (free tier, paid from $25 a month) and paste our Ruthless Scope PM persona first so version one stays small. Pick Replit if you want hosting and a database in one place, or Bolt for quick prototypes you can export. When you outgrow the builder, export the code, move to Claude Code, and run unslop so it stops looking like every other AI app. Open the setup
